Space-stations could provide all the advantages of a gravity-free research environment. They would be entirely automated and self-contained to permit maintenance and self-repair without human intervention. In addition, they would serve as nodes in a major world-telecommunications system, which would provide up-to-date information on the Earth's ecosystem, the position of ships and airliners, and other pertinent information to the inhabitants of the cybernated world.
